A native of Texas, Rick moved to Panama City, Florida in 1974, fell in love with our state, and has lived in Florida ever since. He has been an agent with Century 21 Collins Realty, Inc. since 2004 and has lived on St. George Island for almost three decades.
Rick received his BA in English from The University of Texas at Austin and his JD from Emory in Atlanta. He practiced law in Panama City for seven years, specializing in construction litigation, probate and title work. In the late 1970s, Rick was bitten by the political bug and worked for two presidential campaigns and three gubernatorial campaigns. He lobbied state government for over thirty-five years for the construction industry and was the founding chairman of the Construction Coalition, a group of over thirty statewide trade associations in the construction industry.
While living in St. George Plantation, Rick served as president of the Plantation Owners Association for two terms. He is a past president of the Realtor's Association of Franklin and Gulf Counties and was vice-chairman of the Board of Weems Memorial Hospital. He is currently president of the Ilse Newell Fund for the Performing Arts. He has been a Franklin County Commissioner for District 1 (St. George Island and Eastpoint) and is currently the Franklin County Tax Collector.
